The Aquatic Resources Education Association is a non-profit organization of local, state, federal, industry, fisheries and educational professionals involved in aquatic resource education programs. AREA provides decision makers at the national, regional, and state level on aquatic issues, strategies and methodologies. Education, public awareness, recreation, environmental issues, marine biology, and more are concerns of AREANET members. AREA provides a forum for issues, deliberation and resolution; serves as a communiction liaison in promting wise-use management and recreational sports related to them.

The Department of Fish and Game is charged with stewardship responsibility over the Commonwealth's marine and freshwater fisheries, wildlife species, plants and natural communities. The Department maintains and improves the state's rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, coastal waters and wild lands through programs of research, restoration development and land acquisition. It also enforces all environmental laws relating to fishing, hunting, hazardous waste, illegal dumping, boating and recreational vehicles. The Department supports recreational uses of the state's wildlife lands consistent with the agency's mission.

Book Safari is a fully searchable database of book reviews created by the children's department staff of the Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The books included in the database have been read by a member of the staff of the children's department and have been included in the database because they would be useful to Ela patrons for recreational and required reading. Other book selection options include Book Awards, Battle Books, and Books by Grade. Book Awards features a list of reviewed books that have been designated as medal or honor books in the major national book awards programs as well as those that have been awarded the Caudill Award, which is specific to Illinois. Battle Books are those reviewed books that have been included in the Ela Area Public Library Junior Battle of the Books competitions in the past years.
